Collins Receives SOWELA’s Customer Service Star Award
Lake Charles, Louisiana – December 13, 2016
Christine Collins, Director of Student Support Services at SOWELA Technical Community College, received the Customer Service Star Award for the Fall 2016 semester at the Annual Employee Christmas Luncheon. SOWELA’s Customer Service Committee selects award winners from nominations submitted by faculty and staff of the College.
Those nominating Collins stated, "she goes above and beyond for SOWELA’s students, such as making disability services more streamlined for students or honoring their different cultures.She secured a grant for Single Stop, which helps connect students to community resources, and actively researches student advocacy methods and strategies for keeping the College in compliance with the Office of Civil Rights.”
"I can’t think of anyone more deserving. Ms. Collins works tirelessly to bring quality services and support to our students to ensure they are successful here at SOWELA,” said Anna Daigle, Executive Director of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs.
SOWELA’s Office of Student Support Services is a multifaceted office providing services for students with disabilities, career guidance, and personal and life counseling. The Office also oversees the College’s extracurricular activities, including student government, honor societies, clubs, and other engagement opportunities that provide students with a holistic college experience.
SOWELA Technical Community College provides traditional, distance, and lifelong learning experiences and awards associate degrees, technical diplomas, and certificates that empower learners in transfer, career and technical education to excel as globally competitive citizens. The College has been educating the region’s workforce for more than 75 years.
