LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA – March 16, 2017
Graphic Art students from SOWELA Technical Community College received multiple accolades at the recent American Advertising Awards. Gold ADDY award winners include Brookin Alexander, Brandon Boggs, and Katelyn Vincent. Gold category winners will advance to the district level where they will compete for a spot at the national competition. Silver ADDY award winners include Tyler Fitkin, Aspen Keel, and Katelyn Vincent. Bronze finalists include Brookin Alexander, Ashley Cook, and Tracy Kyeer.
"The American Advertising Awards gives students the opportunity to showcase their skills and be recognized by professionals in their field. An advantage to winning an award is that students now have something very positive and outstanding to place on their resume. The award ceremony provides students with the chance to network with area professionals and share their work with them. The Graphic Art Department at SOWELA is very proud of the accomplishments of these students,” said Graphic Art Instructor Darrell Buck.
Each year, the Lake Charles AAF chapter receives submissions from area college students who compete for recognition in a variety of marketing and design categories. Local advertising professionals judge the entries, which helps students establish their skills among peers in the local community.
SOWELA Technical Community College provides traditional, distance, and lifelong learning experiences and awards associate degrees, technical diplomas, and certificates that empower learners in transfer, career and technical education to excel as globally competitive citizens.
